CANSEE2025 Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

CANSEE is excited to invite you to Cape Breton for our biennial conference!
Mark your calendars for July 14-16, 2025.

As always, our conference is more than just an academic gathering, it’s an invitation to experience the community and beauty of Cape Breton. Cape Breton offers rugged coastlines, crystal clear beaches, hiking trails, puffins, and a vibrant local culture where we can explore together what it means to build community that’s rooted in place with strong community relationships.

2024 Student Academy

This past June, a group of Ecological Economics students from across Canada and the United States came together in Montreal to imagine what a place-based, community-centered conference can be. With a commitment to ecological economics and social well-being, these emerging leaders have mapped out a conference experience that will highlight local culture, knowledge-sharing, and the importance of place-based economics.
